2020 Mazda CX-30 vs 2021 Kia Seltos

If you are shopping for a compact crossover, it’s a great time to be in the marketplace. Several manufacturers are releasing new models throughout Canada. Mazda’s contribution, the CX-30, is quickly moving ahead of the pack. With fantastic horsepower, responsive torque, and a driving experience designed around you, we’re proud to offer this exciting vehicle. Here, we compare it to another new crossover, the 2021 Kia Seltos.

The 2020 Mazda CX-30 is more powerful and surprisingly efficient

The CX-30 model line includes two engines that stand out as some of the most powerful in its segment. The CX-30 2.0L four-cylinder produces 155 hp and 150 lb-ft of torque on the GX and pairs with FWD and AWD systems. The CX-30’s GS and GT trims include a 2.5L four-cylinder engine that piles on 186 horsepower and 186 lb-ft of torque. That’s where other compact crossovers fall behind.

The Seltos offers two engines. Standard in all trims, except for the SX Turbo AWD, a 2.0L four-cylinder generates 146 horsepower with 132 lb-ft of torque. This just doesn’t match the response of anything the CX-30 offers. The most powerful engine in the lineup, a 1.6L turbocharged four-cylinder, produces 175 horsepower and 195 lb-ft of torque. This engine only appears in one trim level, whereas the CX-30’s more powerful engine is offered in multiple trims.

Freedom in the 2020 Mazda CX-30

It can be tough to get the most from your vehicle in every driving situation with a one-size-fits-all transmission. However, the CX-30 places more control of acceleration and performance in your hands. Its six-speed automatic transmission features manual-shift mode, Drive Selection and paddle shifters (GT). It’s also standard in all trims.

The Kia Seltos includes a standard CVT in all but one trim. Your driving experience at the mercy of how the transmission thinks you should accelerate. Along with the lack of torque in most trims, the Seltos just doesn’t have the performance that is readily available in each CX-30.

Inside, the CX-30 includes more front leg room and front shoulder room than the Seltos. That’s important when you want to keep the CX-30 on the road and have a little more fun.

The Mazda CX-30 is not only a useful SUV, it’s an experience in itself to drive. You can shop for your car online with us. Our representatives are waiting for your call and can answer all your questions about the 2020 Mazda CX-30.

Comparing the 2026 Mazda CX-90 MHEV GT and Signature Trims: Is the Upgrade Worth It for Burnaby Families?

The 2026 Mazda CX-90 MHEV lineup spans five trim levels, and for buyers who have already narrowed the search to Mazda's flagship three-row crossover, the decision most commonly comes down to two: the GT and the Signature.
