2021 Mazda CX-30 vs. 2021 Nissan Qashqai: When Driving Dynamics Matter

The 2021 CX-30 has it all. Mazda’s refined styling dominates the exterior, while a trio of powerful engines is available to take you further. The interior is crafted with the industry’s best in terms of materials and textures, while the advanced safety and infotainment technologies make every drive safer and more enjoyable.

Here, we compare the 2021 Mazda CX-30 with the 2021 Nissan Qashqai.

More power and performance under the hood of the 2021 Mazda CX-30

Every Mazda vehicle comes with a highly calibrated powertrain that can take you anywhere efficiently, and with the best performance. The base CX-30 features a 2.0-litre four-cylinder that outputs a responsive 155 horsepower and 150 lb-ft of torque. This powertrain pulls ahead of the Qashqai's only engine choice, which is a 2.0-litre that produces 141 horsepower.

The CX-30 GS and GT models include a 2.5-litre four-cylinder that increases output to 186 horsepower and torque to 186 lb-ft. Again, this is much more than the Qashqai.

Buyers looking for even more power and performance can opt for the 2.5-litre turbocharged unit. With 250 horsepower and 320 lb-ft of torque under the hood, the CX-30 establishes a new standard in terms of driving dynamics in the segment.

Every CX-30 features available and standard i-Activ all-wheel drive depending on the model, which is the best AWD system on the market. However, half of all Qashqai models do not offer AWD.

The CX-30 is offered with a standard, performance-oriented 6-speed automatic transmission, while the Qashqai features a less nimble continuously variable transmission and the only “automatic” option, and it is optional.

The CX-30 offers better power, performance, and drivetrain equipment than the 2021 Nissan Qashqai.

A more refined interior with the 2021 Mazda CX-30

Designers and engineers have gathered the best materials and textures to carefully craft the interior of the CX-30. This driver-centric cabin makes driving much more enjoyable for the driver, but also provides more comfort for the passengers than the Nissan Qashqai.

The CX-30 is also very safe, with the highest IIHS safety rating under its belt: the 2021 Top Safety Pick+.

The 2021 Mazda CX-30 moves ahead with better engines, better technologies and better style than the Nissan Qashqai. You can shop for your car online with us. Our representatives are waiting for your call and can answer all your questions.

Comparing the 2026 Mazda CX-90 MHEV GT and Signature Trims: Is the Upgrade Worth It for Burnaby Families?

The 2026 Mazda CX-90 MHEV lineup spans five trim levels, and for buyers who have already narrowed the search to Mazda's flagship three-row crossover, the decision most commonly comes down to two: the GT and the Signature.
