2024 Mazda CX-50: Comprehensive Overview of Models, Features, and Pricing

Mazda Canada has officially announced the pricing and details for its 2024 CX-50 crossover SUV. Designed with North American outdoor enthusiasts in mind, this rugged vehicle will be available with a starting Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) of $39,300 for the base GS-L model. The lineup also includes the GT, GT Turbo, and the top-tier Turbo Meridian Edition, with MSRP starting at $49,250.

The CX-50 is offered with two powertrain options, both mated to a Skyactiv-Drive six-speed automatic transmission. The base engine is a Skyactiv-G 2.5L naturally aspirated four-cylinder with Cylinder Deactivation, delivering 187 horsepower and 186 lb-ft of torque. For those looking for more power, there's a Skyactiv-G 2.5L turbocharged option featuring Mazda's i-stop technology. It churns out 256 hp and 320 lb-ft of torque on premium 93 octane gas or 227 hp and 310 lb-ft of torque on regular 87 octane fuel. Both engines come standard with i-Activ All-Wheel Drive (AWD) and Mazda Intelligent Drive Select (Mi-Drive) offering Sport and Off-road modes.

Standard features for the entry-level CX-50 GS-L include dual-zone automatic climate control, a 10.25-inch centre console display, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration, and an array of i-Activsense safety technologies. Among them are Advanced Blind Spot Monitoring, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, and Mazda Radar Cruise Control. Visually, the GS-L stands out with 17-inch black metallic alloy wheels, LED headlights, and a power rear liftgate. The vehicle has a towing capacity of 907 kg (2,000 lb).

The GT variant elevates the offering with 20-inch aluminum-alloy wheels, a Bose 12-speaker premium audio system, and Mazda Navigation. Additional safety features include a 360° View Monitor and Adaptive Front-lighting System. The GT Turbo pushes the envelope further with enhanced towing capacity of 1,588 kg (3,500 lbs) and exclusive Turbo badging.

For customers wanting to fully embrace the outdoors, the CX-50 Turbo Meridian Edition is the top-of-the-range offering. It features exclusive 18-inch alloy wheels with all-terrain tires, unique hood graphics, and a variety of outdoor-specific accessories. An optional Apex Package, available for an MSRP of $50,650, adds roof-mounted black crossbars and both front and rear splash guards.

The 2024 Mazda CX-50 presents a well-rounded package of performance, features, and versatility across its various models, aimed to cater to a broad spectrum of needs and preferences. With pricing now announced, interested buyers can look forward to visiting Mazda retailers across Canada for a closer look.
