A Look at the Impressive Safety Features on the 2022 Mazda3

The 2022 Mazda 3 is one of the safest vehicles in its class due to its numerous active and passive safety features that have earned it the IIHS’ Top Safety Pick + award.

The forward collision warning system

The 2022 Mazda 3 is available with the forward collision warning system with Smart City Brake Support. This technology helps the driver avoid collisions by signalling the presence of an obstacle early enough to leave time for evasive maneuvers. If the driver doesn’t react quickly enough, the system is capable of applying the brakes on its own in order to prevent or greatly reduce the speed of the collision. The Smart City Brake Support system works essentially in the same way but only at speeds under 30 km/h. When a risk of collision is detected, the brake linings are brought closer to the disks in order to provide the full braking force as soon as the driver steps on the pedal.

The lane departure warning system

The 2022 Mazda 3 can be equipped with the lane departure warning system. This technology works by using a camera to detect the road markings that indicate the lane in which the vehicle is travelling. If the camera detects that the vehicle is drifting out of its lane, it issues a warning before the vehicle is allowed to drive into oncoming traffic or off of the road, which could result in a serious accident.

The rear cross-traffic alert system

The 2022 Mazda 3 comes standard with the rear cross-traffic alert. This system is of great help when trying to back out of a parking space with larger vehicles around that block the driver’s view. By using sensors in the rear bumper, this system can tell when vehicles are approaching from the sides in order to warn the driver not to back out in front of them and risk an accident.
