AJAC Names Mazda CX-70 Among Canada's Best Vehicles

The 2025 Mazda CX-70 lineup strengthens its position in the Canadian automotive landscape with dual category recognition from the Automobile Journalists Association of Canada (AJAC). Both the CX-70 Mild Hybrid (MHEV) Inline 6 Turbo and CX-70 Plug-in Hybrid (PHEV) variants secured spots among the 12 Best Vehicles in Canada for 2025, showcasing the brand's success in developing premium electrified SUVs for the Canadian market.

This recognition validates Mazda's dedication to engineering excellence across multiple powertrain options. The CX-70 emerges as Mazda's most spacious two-row crossover, delivering 5,000 pounds of towing capacity alongside thoughtfully designed cargo solutions. The dual nominations highlight how effectively both powertrains deliver on the promise of combining capability with efficiency.

Advanced Powertrain Options

The 2025 CX-70 offers three distinct electrified powertrains to suit different driving preferences. Two variants of the e-Skyactiv G 3.3L Inline 6 Turbo feature 48-volt M-Hybrid Boost technology, while the e-Skyactiv PHEV provides extended electric-only driving capability. Each powertrain works in concert with an eight-speed automatic transmission and i-Activ all-wheel drive. The Mazda Intelligent Drive Select system adapts vehicle dynamics through Normal, Sport, Off-Road, and Towing modes, with EV mode available on PHEV models.

Technology Integration and Safety

The CX-70 introduces Amazon Alexa built-in functionality, allowing voice control of various vehicle features to enhance convenience while minimizing distraction. The addition of Private eCall emergency services and Stolen Vehicle Assistance provides peace of mind during everyday drives and longer adventures. Every CX-70 includes a comprehensive suite of i-Activsense safety features, complemented by wireless phone charging and premium Bose audio as standard equipment.

Canadian Market Positioning

Starting at $49,750 for the MHEV model and $58,750 for the PHEV variant, the 2025 CX-70 positions itself competitively in the premium crossover segment. Both models have earned their places among AJAC's 12 Best Vehicles in Canada and are now eligible to compete for their respective category wins, with final awards to be announced at the Canadian International AutoShow's Canadian Car of the Year Awards presentation on February 13, 2025.
