Diesel option officially launched on the 2019 Mazda CX-5 Signature

Announced at the last New York Auto Show, the new Mazda CX-5 diesel is arriving next month and represents a significant moment in Mazda history. Scheduled for August, the new diesel engine will be available in the high-end 2019 Mazda CX-5 Signature starting at $ 45,590.

It will be powered by a diesel engine with two sequential turbochargers which gives the right performance at the right time while staying linear. The 2.2-liter Skyactiv-D delivers 168 horsepower and 290 lb-ft of torque - more torque than any other engine in the 2019 Mazda CX-5, with the exception of the 2.5-liter turbo. The new diesel engine may not be the most powerful in the CX-5 range, but it is certainly the most fuel-efficient with an average fuel consumption rating of 8.9 liters per 100 kilometers in the city, 7.9 L/100 km on the road or 8.5 L/100 km combined.

Since this is the Signature version, the Mazda CX-5 diesel also gets all the equipment offered in the compact Mazda SUV including Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Nappa cocoa leather seats, an exclusive wood finish, a navigation system, heated and ventilated seats, dual zone air conditioning and much more. The diesel version also receives exclusive scheduled maintenance free for two years or 32,000 kilometers.

" Mazda takes every challenge head on, and bringing this diesel engine to Canadian diesel lovers has certainly been a journey; one that's now culminated in the form of the CX-5 Skyactiv-D, said David Klan, President and CEO, Mazda Canada. "Our journey towards Mazda Premium means offering our customers the premium choices they expect, and the 2019 CX-5 offers cutting edge powertrain options, including a fuel-efficient gasoline engine with cylinder deactivation, a powerful turbo gasoline engine, and now the smooth and refined power delivery of a quiet and clean diesel engine. Comparing the 2026 Mazda CX-90 MHEV GT and Signature Trims: Is the Upgrade Worth It for Burnaby Families?

The 2026 Mazda CX-90 MHEV lineup spans five trim levels, and for buyers who have already narrowed the search to Mazda's flagship three-row crossover, the decision most commonly comes down to two: the GT and the Signature.
