Mazda Earns Most TOP SAFETY PICK+ Awards of any Single Brand

Mazda has once again distinguished itself in the latest round of assessments by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). Garnering the highest number of TOP SAFETY PICK+ awards among all automotive brands for the 2024 model year, Mazda has solidified its reputation for integrating superior safety technologies into its vehicles. This year, the IIHS has granted the coveted TOP SAFETY PICK+ accolade to five Mazda models.

Among the esteemed recipients of the TOP SAFETY PICK+ award are the 2024 Mazda3, Mazda3 Sport, and CX-30, which, when outfitted with optional front crash prevention technology, exemplify the pinnacle of safety in their respective categories. The CX-50, produced after August 2023, along with the CX-90, have also been recognized with the TOP SAFETY PICK+ award, featuring these critical safety components as standard equipment. Additionally, the 2024 CX-90 PHEV has been honored with the TOP SAFETY PICK award, with expectations to achieve the TOP SAFETY PICK+ status following its performance in the forthcoming moderate front overlap test.

The criteria for the 2024 safety awards have been rigorously updated to encompass enhanced protection against front and side impacts, alongside advancements in crash avoidance measures, particularly focusing on pedestrian safety during both daytime and nighttime. IIHS President David Harkey lauded this year's winners for their exceptional commitment to safeguarding not only those inside the vehicle but also vulnerable individuals on the road.

Mazda's triumph in this year's safety awards can be attributed to the integration of rear seat belt pretensioners, load limiters, and advanced side impact airbags as standard features across all models. Moreover, Mazda's approach to crafting safer vehicles extends beyond merely protecting its occupants. The brand has meticulously refined its crash avoidance systems to be acutely aware of pedestrians under various lighting conditions, showcasing Mazda's holistic view of road safety.

David Klan, President and CEO of Mazda Canada Inc. (MCI), expressed the brand's core philosophy, stating, "The most important thing in any of our vehicles are the people who drive them, and they trust our vehicles to keep them and their families safe."

For those interested in delving deeper into Mazda's advanced safety features and the technology behind these prestigious awards, further information can be found on the Mazda Canada website. The IIHS, a reputable and independent safety-testing body funded by the insurance industry, provides comprehensive details and ratings at their official site, serving as a valuable resource for consumers prioritizing vehicle safety in their purchasing decisions.

How the 2026 Mazda CX-5's Larger Cargo Area Handles Weekend Errands and Getaways from Burnaby

The all-new 2026 Mazda CX-5 is a full third-generation redesign, and one of the most practical changes is how much more cargo space it now offers. The previous model was a strong seller in British Columbia — over 300,000 CX-5s have been sold across Canada since 2012 — but tight rear cargo dimensions were a consistent point of feedback from owners.
