The New 2024 Mazda CX-90 PHEV: Ultra-Efficient and Powerful

The 2024 Mazda CX-90 PHEV boasts an complete lineup of features, catering to different preferences with its three configurations: the CX-90 PHEV GS, GS-L, and GT.

At the heart of this vehicle lies the e-Skyactiv PHEV powertrain. Incorporating a 2.5L naturally aspirated four-cylinder engine and an electric motor, the powertrain jointly offers a potent 323 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque. Significantly, the plug-in hybrid technology enables the CX-90 PHEV to run solely on its electric motor in diverse driving conditions. The inclusion of Mazda's 2.5L engine and a 17.8 kWh high-capacity battery offers adaptability, especially during lengthier drives or scenarios demanding maximal acceleration.

Moving to its individual configurations, the base model, the CX-90 PHEV GS, provides seating for eight passengers. This mirrors the seating arrangement of its mild-hybrid counterpart, the CX-90 GS. All features – be it exterior, interior, or safety – of the CX-90 GS are retained. Standard features include heated black cloth seats, a 10.25-inch center display, a fully digital 12.3-inch TFT LCD instrument panel, an 8-speaker Mazda Harmonic Acoustics audio system, integration for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Mazda Connect infotainment system, and push-button start. Moreover, the newly incorporated EV Mode in the Mi-Drive allows drivers to run the vehicle exclusively on its electric motor for extended durations. The only visual difference is the "PHEV" exterior fender badge.

For those seeking a touch of luxury, the CX-90 PHEV GS-L offers standard seven-passenger seating and is equipped with second-row captain's chairs, featuring armrests and a center walk-through. While maintaining a towing capacity of 3,500 lbs, this variant enhances the driving experience by integrating a Towing Mode to its Mi-Drive.

The pinnacle of the range, the CX-90 PHEV GT, while keeping the essence of the CX-90 GT, introduces exclusive additions. A stand-out feature is the 1500-watt charging outlet in the cargo space, enabling the power or charging of appliances – a boon for long family voyages. Aesthetically, this variant flaunts diamond-cut 21-inch alloy wheels, endowed with machined-finish spokes and black painted details, and a rocker panel accent trim with a satin chrome finish, enriched with a debossed Mazda wordmark. The interior exudes luxury with soft Nappa leather upholstery, available in both black and Pure White.

As with all recent Mazda vehicles, the 2024 CX-90 PHEV showcases a blend of performance, style, and adaptability, catering to a broad spectrum of driving needs and preferences.
