2020 Mazda CX-30 vs 2020 Nissan Kicks

Striving to make the best, most appealing vehicles for customers is every automakers’ goal. Although this may be true, all manufacturers do not go about achieving this goal by the same means. Most will stop at “good enough” but not Mazda – they always go above and beyond.

With countless new entries in the small SUV categories, fielding the lot can become a complex task. Offerings like the 2020 Mazda CX-30 and 2020 Nissan Kicks are aimed at the same purchasers but the reasons for selecting one over the other can be very different. Let’s take a closer look.

We concede that the Nissan Kicks is an amusing small SUV. Its low entry price-point can make it an attractive option however the lack of what has become must-have features, such as Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and a heated front seats are difficult to do without. Selecting the next trim up in the Kicks’ lineup quickly narrows the pricing gap. At roughly $2,500 more than the Kicks, the added value in the base Mazda CX-30 far outweighs the amount.

Mazda understands that we spend countless hours within the confines of our vehicles driving all the while remaining connected. This is why the most basic CX-30 model includes Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, both accessible on an 8.8-inch screen, heated front seats and so much more.

As for driving, the 2020 Mazda CX-30 is powered by a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine which produces 155-horsepower and 150 lb.-ft. By comparison, the Kicks depends on a 122-horsepower 1.6-liter 4-cylinder. Driven only by the front wheels, the Nissan Kicks is marginally easier on fuel however living in Canada, most consumers enjoy the idea of AWD. This feature is not offered with the Nissan but optional on the Mazda. As well, G-Vectoring Control Plus, a dynamic driving aid is standard while a 186-horsepower 2.5-liter engine is available.

Finally, on top of all the additional standard or optional features offered with the new 2020 Mazda CX-30, the attention to detail and premium aspects of the cabin are another undeniable advantage. Mazda has raised the bar in the small SUV segment to a level never-before seen.

You owe to yourself to see how good you can have it so come and check out the Mazda CX-30.
